And that’s a wrap….
September was a crazily busy month for us at Hi-Tech Motorsport with back to back race meetings at The Goodwood Revival and Spa Six Hours, we barely had time to unload and re-load our transporter!
Goodwood Revival
We thoroughly enjoyed yet another visit to The Goodwood Revival which offers a fantastic atmosphere and some very close racing. Entering into the vintage spirit of it all we all sported blue ‘Scarab’ inspired overalls as we were running both of the Scarabs belonging to Eddie McGuire and Julian Bronson. Unfortunately Eddie’s debut outing in the Scarab was short-lived due to an issue with the distributor, however, Julian’s performance was nail-bitingly exciting after some very close (too close) racing with Tony Wood meant a new nose for the Scarab was required, although in true Bronson style he continued racing hard and drove to finish in first place!
We were also part of the Glover Trophy, with Miles driving Philip Walker’s Lotus 24, who after a tremendous start from 3rd, drove a fantastic race to maintain his starting position. John Clarke drove his Cooper T56 to successfully finish 11th overall.
Jonathan Hughes was invited to participate in the Chichester Cup in his Lola Mk II, and after a competitive qualifying session had secured 4th place on the grid. After a great start Johnathan had moved up into 3rd place, however he suffered clutch problems which resulted in a race retirement.

Spa Six Hours
The following weekend we were at Spa with the HGPCA and FJHRA and after qualifying on the Friday we were all in good stead for the racing over the weekend.
Cameron, Andrea and Philip were first out on track on Saturday in the Formula Juniors. After a fantastic start, Cameron enjoyed an exciting battle with Sam Wilson and James Murray and finished in second place, right on the tail of Sam Wilson. Close clean racing at its best! Sunday’s wet start to the day saw Cameron in his element and after a spin (or two) drove to finish in first place!
Andrea suffered major engine problems on Saturday and after purchasing another engine, we worked tirelessly to install and modify the new engine to allow him to participate in Sunday’s race. Luckily all our hard work paid off and he drove Sundays race to successfully finish.
Cameron Jackson P2 after racing his Formula Junior at Spa-Franchorchamps in Saturday’s race.
Dijon
Our last European trip for the 2016 season saw us running 8 cars across the HGPCA and FJHRA with all 8 successfully completing our final ‘abroad’ historic meeting, it couldn’t have been a better culmination.
Philip Walker took 1st place in Race 1 for the HGPCA pre-61 in the Lotus 16, followed closely by our very own Julian Bronson in the Scarab. Race 1 for the HGPCA pre-66 cars saw Peter Horsman finish in 1st place in the Lotus 18/21, followed by William Nuthall in the Cooper T53 and Barry Cannell made the podium in 3rd place.

Silverstone Finals
The last race meeting of the season at the Silverstone Finals allowed us to support Cameron Jackson in his Formula Junior and his Formula 3. Despite treacherous conditions on the Sunday, Cameron qualified well, however suffered gearbox issues during the race and retired. Thankfully a more successful result was to follow and Cameron drove the last round of the FJHRA in remarkable style to finish 2nd after some close racing with Andrew Hibberd.
And breathe…..after our busiest season to date it’s now time to get to work on the winter re-builds and preparation ready for next year’s season. Once again a massive thank you to all of our loyal customers for their continued support. Here’s to 2017!
